Jenny and Johnny, the collaboration between indie-couple Jenny Lewis and Jonathan Rice, wants you to know that “This is not a Rilo Kiley record, a Jenny Lewis record, or a Johnathan Rice record. This is Jenny and Johnny. They’re having fun now, and they want you to, too.” With that in mind, the duo laid down tracks from their debut in the downtime during Lewis’ Acid Tongue tour, and the resulting work will come out in the form of an LP, I’m Having Fun Now (if Lewis’ Tweet is to be believed) August 31. Lewis and Rice laid down some initial tracks with Rilo Kiley’s Pierre De Reeder and Jason Boesel before moving out to Nebraska to work with Mike Mogis on the rest of the record. With a tour with dates with Pavement and Belle & Sebastian approaching, Jenny and Johnny have a song, “Scissor Runner” available for download on their website for the price of an email address, and it’s catchy as hell.
