Sufjan Steven’s Come On, Feel the Illinoise was our eleventh favorite album of the 2000s, but it’s been a long time since we’ve heard new material from him. Sure, he’s released a Christmas box set and an orchestral piece titled “The BQE,” but it’s been five years since Illinoise. The prospects of a new record weren’t looking good when he told Paste he didn’t have much confidence in recording music anymore. Well good news today from The National’s Bryce Dessner who said that not only is Sufjan working on a new record, but that the band has played on it. It’s not surprising, given that Sufjan is recording in the band’s studios and has played with the band before. Either way, it’s good to hear that he’s back. What might it sound like Bryce Dessner?
“It’s going to be incredible. It’s going to probably blow people’s minds.”
We’ll wait and wait patiently.

I hope its another Stateeeeee
