Dustin Hoffman Passes on TV, Joins HBO Instead

Variety reports that Dustin Hoffman has signed on to star in Luck, the new show from David Milch (creator of Deadwood and charter member of HBO’s Fellowship of the Davids).

Hoffman will portray a man in his late 60s just released from four years in prison who’s autodidactic, intelligent, and deeply involved in gambling.

Sounds like someone better clear some space on his shelf for a lot of Emmys. Luck joins HBO’s intriguing new slate of programming, including Treme and Boardwalk Empire, and should debut in January 2011.
