When the Coachella lineup was announced, it featured “Thom Yorke and ?????,” as his backing band didn’t have a name. That backing band, which features Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich, Beck/R.E.M. drummer Joey Waronker, percussionist/multi-instrumentalist Mauro Refosco, and Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea now has a name: Atoms for Peace. Yorke made the announcement on Radiohead’s Dead Air Space blog, (“hope you like the name.. it seemed bleedin’ obvious”) and also threw in a few dates the band will be playing with Flying Lotus opening.
