We could probably devote all of our posts to Hollywood developments, but we tend to only post the big ones, and boy, is this one. Sony announced yesterday they were scrapping Sam Raimi’s Spiderman 4 in favor of a total series reboot. Some might say that this is a good thing, considering Spiderman 3 wasn’t so great, but Raimi seemed to have regained his swagger with Drag Me To Hell and had indicated he wanted to do one more to make up for it. But, alas, it seems Sony is going to reboot the series with a film that “focuses on a teenager grappling with both contemporary human problems and amazing super-human crises.” So, like seemingly every superhero movie from now on, they’re going to try and go the Batman Begins/Dark Knight route of gritty realism. While this could be a good thing for the series, there was something great about Raimi’s reverence for the comic book and his style. Oh well though. For more, head here.
