Magnetic Fields Announce New Record: Realism

Ten years ago, Stephin Merritt and the Magnetic Fields released 69 Love Songs, one of the great records of the 1990s. Now Merritt and co. are returning with their third album since then, Realism, coming out January 26 on Nonesuch. It seems like Realism will break Merritt’s trend of having an album based on a theme (love songs, the letter “i”, distortion), at least on the outset. Check out the tracklist below:

“You Must Be Out of Your Mind”
“Interlude”
“We Are Having A Hootenanny”
“I Don’t Know What To Say”
“The Dolls’ Tea Party”
“Everything Is One Big Christmas Tree”
“Walk a Lonely Road”
“Always Already Gone”
“Seduced and Abandoned”
“Better Things”
“Painted Flower”
“The Dada Polka”
“From a Sinking Boat”
